The terms used within the system of Eesti Pandipakend   print

The most current terms used within the EPP system:

 

Retailer or Handler means any person who sells and takes back packaging from end users or customers.  
Packaging company is an organisation which, within the framework of its economic or professional activities, engages in the packaging of goods, or who imports or sells packaged goods i.e. a manufacturer, importer or owner of trade mark.
Deposit is a packaging deposit which is assigned to different types of packaging on the basis of the Packaging Act. The rates of deposit are established by the Minister of the Environment.
Packaging means used glass, plastic or metal non-refillable packaging of soft drinks, beer, cider, perry and low-ethanol alcoholic beverages packaged or imported by a packaging company on which a packaging deposit has been established, including any of the above-mentioned packages which can be considered as waste within the meaning of section 2 of the Waste Act.
Refillable packaging means returnable sales packaging of soft drinks, beer, cider, perry and low-ethanol alcoholic beverages packaged or imported by a packaging company for which a deposit has been established by the Packaging Act.
Accession fee is a lump sum remuneration – 500 kroons - paid by a manufacturer, owner of a trade mark or importer upon joining the EPP system.
Registration fee is a fee to be paid for the registration of a beverage package in the Packaging Register of the EPP which is 450 kroons per each package type.
Administration fee Is a fee to be paid by a packaging company to the EPP per each packaging unit.
Returnable deposit is a deposit which a packaging company pays to the EPP after the EPP has provided the company with the relevant invoice which has been prepared on the basis of sales reports submitted to the EPP.
Handling fee is an indemnity per every packaging unit of each type of packaging paid to a retailer or a redemption centre in order to cover the direct costs related to the handling of packaging. The handling fee is paid after the identification and counting of packages in the Counting Centre of the EPP.
Emblem is a unique marking of the EPP (on a label or as a security sticker on packaging) which informs consumers about the fact that the beverage package belongs within the deposit system, as well as the rate of deposit. The emblem is located on the beverage package according to the EPP Emblem Guide.
Standard EAN code i.e.
standard bar code
means, for the EPP, a bar code the use of which is not limited only to Estonia i.e. it is used on packaged goods meant also for sales or distribution outside of Estonia.

Unique EAN code i.e.
unique bar code

means, for the EPP, a bar code which is used only in Estonia. The unique bar code differs from the bar code used on packaged goods meant for sales or distribution outside of Estonia.
