Eesti Pandipakend LLC   print

Eesti Pandipakend LLC (EPP) was founded on 11.10.2004 and accredited on 11.03.2005 as a recovery organisation of beverage packages. The relevant rates of deposit were confirmed by the Ministry of the Environment on 23.03.2005.

So far Eesti Pandipakend LLC is the only accredited recovery organisation of beverage packages in Estonia.

The EPP organises the nation-wide collection, reuse and recovery of glass, plastic and metal packaging subject to deposit, and packaging waste of soft drinks, beer, low-ethanol alcoholic beverages, juice, juice concentrates and nectar.

The shareholders of Eesti Pandipakend are the following:

The Estonian Association of Brewers – a non-profit association which has been founded and acts on the basis of laws valid in the Republic of Estonia, registry code: 80089758, (“Beer Association”), 25%.

The Association of Producers of Soft Drinks – a non-profit association which has been founded and acts on the basis of laws valid in the Republic of Estonia, registry code: 80213365, (“Soft Drinks Association”), 25%.

The Association of Importers of Soft Drinks and Beer – a non-profit association which has been founded and acts on the basis of laws valid in the Republic of Estonia, registry code: 80213253, (“Importers Association”), 25%.

The Estonian Traders’ Association – a non-profit association which has been founded and acts on the basis of laws valid in the Republic of Estonia, registry code: 80007134, (“Traders Association”), 25%.

The EPP aims to involve as many packaging companies as possible whose activities are related to packaging subject to deposit. In order to level the influence of individual packaging companies they cannot participate in the EPP system as individual shareholders. Instead, they are represented by their associations. To ensure the right balance between the different associations all of them hold an equal share in the EPP. Such a structure is important from the aspect of the competition law. The EPP is convinced that such a system avoids any possible restriction of competition during the collection and recovery of packaging subject to deposit.
